Edlesborough Methodist Chapel

47 Methodist Chapel

This photo shows the Methodist Chapel as it was when built in 1885, with a spire at each corner and a brick wall and brick pillars at the side. The spires and brick wall have been removed together with the trees. The brick wall has been replaced by an iron fence. The houses on the left have long been pulled down.

The house (Westleigh) on the right was the home of Mr and Mrs Walter Gray and family. Mr Gray had an interest in the hat trade at Luton and the shed on the right was where the plaiting straws were handed out to the ladies who plaited, this helped the local women to earn a few extra shillings during the plaiting season.
