17th Century Trade Tokens

Trade Tokens

Edlesborough, Daniel Finch, Halfpence, 1666.

Daniel Finch, grocer, first wife Susan, second wife Sarah. He moved to Dunstable, buying a shop and tenement from his brother Samuel in 1667 and issued tokens there in 1668

Tokens were struck by many traders between 1648 and 1672, and semi-officially tolerated, in a period when there was insufficient officially available small change.
